TomTom Start 25

The new TomTom 25 is less stripped down than the previous Tomtom’s entry-level model, however it is as complete as ever. With the new series TomTom admits that his offer has never been so radical. The hardware is the best starting 20 with a Central Europe card and a 4.3-inch screen, witch is virtually the same as the TomTom GO LIVE 825th. The 3.5 inch display is no longer on this model. There’s a clear gradation in the functions. The Start Series however don’t have the Bluetooth speakerphone.

The navigation software prevails in this unit. The previous entry-level models from TomTom were always clearly distinguished, in terms of software, from the larger Navi models, but know things have changed and all you have to is to enter in the navigation menu and maps. In terms of operation, the surface is all the same and it’s very easy.

TomTom Start 25As already mentioned, the TomTom GO 25 doesn’t have the Bluetooth hands-free and the live service. As a replacement for the live module there is a cable and an antenna inconspicuously integrated with a TMC receiver. The Weather information and the Google search logically missing. TomTom Start 25If you’re not just in the rush hour or in the holiday traffic on the road, the TomTom Start 25 calculates the exact same route and leads just as surely as the TomTom Go models, and only the traffic reports via TMC are significantly less accurate than the Live service witch can be a problem if you decide to enter into inner cities.

TomTom can play its strengths, the user interfaces are identical with the “bigger ones”, with the advantage of the less weight comparing with previous models. The bottom line, TomTom Start 25, is one of the most powerful entry-level GPS navigation devices in the test.
